Stretching Exercises


Stretching is an important and vital part of life. By stretching, your muscles contract which in turn cause other muscles to lengthen and extend and create strength and flexibility.

 

 

Below are some examples of post exercise stretches thanks to ipswich_fitness

Quadricep Stretch

  • Stand up straight with feet hip distance apart
  • Point your toes forward and keep your shoulders even
  • Bend your right leg at the knee
  • Grasp your right foot behind you, with your right hand
  • Hold this stretch for a count of 8
  • Repeat for left leg

 

tricep

Tricep Stretch

  • Stand up straight with knees slightly bent, feet hip distance apart
  • Point your toes forward and keep your shoulders even
  • Bend your right arm at the elbow, lifting the arm next to your head
  • Allow your right fingers to touch the shoulder blade area
  • Placethe left hand on the right elbow
  • Hold the stretch for a count of 8
  • Repeat for left arm

Cross Shoulder Stretch

  • Stand up straight with knees slightly bent
  • Place feet at hip distance apart and make sure toes and pointing forward
  • Keep your shoulders even
  • Bend your right arm at the elbow, extend arm across chest
  • Place your left hand on the right elbow to offer support
  • Hold the stretch for a count of 8
  • Repeat for left arm

 

lowerbackstretch

Lower Back Stretch

  • Lie on your back
  • Pull your knees up to your chest as faras they will go
  • Hold for about 10 seconds
  • Repeat 5 times

 

calfstretch

Calf Stretch

  • Stand tall with one leg in front of the other, hands flat and at shoulder height against a wall.
  • Ease your back leg further away from the wall, keeping it straight and press the heel firmly into the floor
  • Keep your hips facing the wall and the rear leg and spine in a straight line
  • You will feel the stretch in the calf of the rear leg
  • Repeat with the other leg
